The Program We Are Creating

We are launching a Free Hausa Digital Literacy Training Program virtually, specifically tailored for non-tech individuals and tech individuals in underserved communities. This initiative is not about coding or software engineering — it is about day-to-day computer use, empowering market women, students, youth corps members, artisans, job seekers, government workers and community members to comfortably use a computer for life’s basic demands.

Training Focus Areas:

• Understanding a computer: Hardware, software & operating system

• How to use a mouse, keyboard, and desktop

• Using Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint for everyday tasks

• Sending and receiving emails

• Using Google Docs, Drive, and other essential cloud tools

• Introduction to social media for business and marketing

• Online safety and digital identity

• How to search for information and apply for jobs online

• Accessing government services digitally

• Creating basic designs for flyers, CVs, and presentations

• Becoming digitally independent in an offline-to-online world

• Publishing Four Guides in Hausa including How to Operate a Computer (Basic), Hands on Practical of Microsoft word, Hands on Practical of Excel and Hands on Practical of PowerPoint

Alongside many others, with all the sessions focusing on practical aspect to ensure effectiveness of what we teach

Why I’m Doing This

I’ve seen firsthand how Hausa people miss opportunities simply because they don’t know how to use a computer. I’ve also seen the life-changing transformation when someone goes from asking "What is a mouse?" to confidently sending professional emails and designing a document.

This program exists to bridge that gap. It’s a lifeline, not just a training. I believe that access to basic digital skills is a right — and no one should be left behind.

The Impact We Aim to Make

We’re not only teaching — we’re transforming lives. Our goals include:

• Training 2,500+ individuals in the first phase

• Empowering local youth to become digital trainers by working with the best graduating students in our academy

• Tracking success stories and long-term transformation

• Ensuring sustainability through follow-up support and a community learning hub

The Training Structure

The training is structured to have 5 cohorts; 

• Each Cohort will take a duration of 3 months

• Each Cohort will have 500 students maximum

• Each Cohort will have free access to training materials, guides, mentorship

• Each Cohort will have two members (Best graduating)  to work with our academy

• Each  Cohort will be given the trainings, and support they need to transform into digital literates

The training will hold virtually via;

• Telegram: for streaming live classes, recording classes, interacting with students for Q/A, sharing important files and messages

• Google Classroom: To categorize members, give assignments and assess it, share classes information and materials

• Academy Website and Channels (Youtube): To download published guides and materials, watch and access previous classes, get future information.

• Our E-Learning Platform: To conduct exams, and tests

• Google Drive: To store important files and share access to students

• WhatsApp Channel: To create a vibrant community even after graduation, that gets information on tech and future lessons etc.

Materials to be Published in Hausa; 

During the First Cohort graduation, materials will be published and launched as follows;

• General Guide on How to Operate a Computer 

• Hands on Practical of Microsoft word

• Hands on Practical of Excel

• Hands on Practical of PowerPoint

This materials will focus on practical applications of everything, and contain lots of visual and step by step guide to help students in learning the programs, and help other Cohorts to learn using the materials. The materials will be written and published by our team members who have practical experience and a know how towards teaching the programs. And will be published for free on the academy website for anyone to get access freely.
